Thankfully I see much common ground with your last statement however, I disagree with your premise that the only alternative to what we are doing is "to do nothing." I can't help but think our government (Clinton's as well) could have been a hell of a lot more creative in putting the squeeze on Saddam. Why were the flagrant illegal shipments of oil allowed to occur that provided Iraq with so much money for arms? Why didn't we make a case before the world that ANY nation providing assistance to or doing business with Iraq should be economically ostracized? We should have maintained the no-fly zones, worked with insurgent groups to a greater extent, poured a ton of money into intelligence in hopes of knocking off the guy. Isn't the new buzz phrase "thinking out of the box"? I just think a whole lot more could have been done prior to going down this road.
