Icon Kenneth Burns - new WWII documentary + comments

Film maker Kenneth Burns (Civil War, Baseball documentaries on PBS) was on campus yesterday. I went to see a presentation last night where he introduced his upcoming documentary on WWII "The War", and then had a Q&A.

The new WWII film will be amazing. Screenings have left veterans just bawling with emotion. Norah Jones, who I am no great fan of, sings the theme song and it is absolutely amazing. It chokes me up simply recalling hearing it with the video running. It will debut in September on PBS - 17 years to the date from when The Civil War documentary first ran. (he joked that in 17 years all he was able to do was remove the word "civil" from a title)

At the end he got hit with a couple questions on baseball, and his comments were interesting. On Pete Rose: put him in the HOF the day after he dies. Barry Bonds: he should walk away at 754 homers.
