That's not all he lost (or nearly lost) in the Hurricane. Apparently, he came home after the storm, to find his trusty Martin D-28 floating on the living room floor. Needless to say, the drying procedure was done VERY carefully, and several well known luthiers had a look at it, and gave their respective blessings, before it was played again.
His life has apparently been plagued by some dramatic ups and downs over the years, evidence by his liner notes on some albums. The recent health problems have been particularly scary.
Did you check out most of the photo galleries? I believe the little dog with the greying hair is Tipper, the dog he wrote a masterpiece solo guitar improv about on the album, "Me and My Guitar". I read somewhere that the dog is still living. The photo of the cat sleeping in his guitar case is tooo precious...
You might not know that Tony is also a great photographer. His work graces the cover of the wonderful guitar duet album he did a few years back with John Carlini, entitled "River Suite". Elegant; the absolute acme of the modern, flat-picked acoustic guitar.
Regards,
Gene
