I have that Kenny Wayne on loan from a friend. He does impress in that setting. I saw him once one the bill with Indigenous and BB King. The first two acts sounded too much like SRV wanna bes and you could hardly tell the difference between the two. I guess K.W.S. has matured some and found his own sound.
I also have Buddy Guy several times and he flat out gives it his all. He won best blues artist when I went to the W.C. Handy Awards in '96.
Sad about Cary Bell, he has a son who is carrying on his footsteps if not mistaken.
I also got to see the late Luther Allison on the same bill with Jimmy Thakery and The Drivers. Luther, believe it or not, kicked it up several notches from the energy that Buddy Guy presents. I got his guitar pick after that show.
Tab Benoit is a mighty fine white boy, swamp blues artist.
I've seen the Kenny Neal Band and let me tell you, no one can hold their butt still at one of those shoes.
