She sounds like the shocked parents of suicide bombers in the Middle East.  ("He was such a good Muslim boy . . .)  As if that somehow excuses or mitigates in any way the improper action.  I've known a lot of really good religious people so I don't like to generalize, but people who hide behind religion in this way are part of the problem not the solution.
