after some 14 listens to Why, which has been m favorite lyric (havin not heard the song),

it took some time to acquire the gipsy/country/bluegrass flavour (which makes for ageless

music, imho).  I dig the banjo, the organ, the intro, the outro, the vocal & backing, the

subtle squeezebox (I think?), the bare bottom-end;  I’m drawn into a the mellowing

eye of some heady sea eddy by the 10th listen, this is heavy meaning but not heavy

atmospherically, & that’s a very kind way to hit a guy upside the head.  Thanx.

…more please

[fck’m on the beach next year, cause they are listening to this stuff (at least sporadic-

ally between the natural sounds of the sea and sky), like it or not.  i can hardly wait:

big umbrella • hand painted skim board & 2 boogie boards leaning against to form a

little privacy back • trench dug between two beached lounge chairs • hot/cold pack with

assorted reds & rieslings, cheese & triscuits at our feet • two glasses and a corkscrew in

said trench  b’tween us • cool breakers breaking on our favorite “no alcoholic beverages

allowed” beach • only a few tourists like us and a few easy goin residents socializing

nearby & on deck overlooks ~ not all up and under our feet like just a few miles south •

sunset visible behind us, the evident potential of dolphins slicing arcs in the surf on their

way somewhere south • the boys just out of the sea and heading… to our room to order

themselves a pizza (unless next year there’s girls involved… & we’ll cross that bridge

when we come to it) • pull the first cork, look at the sea vista and into her so splendid

ocean eyes & smile in a deep breath of salt night air….]

…wow, repeat loop ended and Days of the New, Flight Response cued, …cool…fit right with the mood/well, kicked it north a beat which is not where I really want to be (but not so’s u’d notice much.)  …Went ahead & listened through The Real…before re-looping another dozen Why.  The keys really get me…then the accordion (?) comes in and the very subtle acoustic guitar fingerings and the harmony, like four winds meeting @ the center stone of her sacred hoop on prairie grass neath old-growth trees.  Call me batty (batboy), but I can listen to this stuff all day and it only get’s deeper.  I know some o you know the feeling, but u won’t admit it; it just ain’t cool to admit it.
