Icon Radiohead live and a couple other notes on the new record and Johnny Greenwood

I too, have seen Radiohead live, on the Hail to the Theif tour, and they were great. Fantastic sound and very cool visuals as well. Yorke was not what I expected, I guess because a lot of their music is downbeat and from what I had seen of him on tv, he was all smiles and a whirling dervish on stage. He seemed to be having the time of his life which was pretty cool.

Now, I'm still waiting on the new record, I guess the cd will be out in a month or two, as the download is sort of not the best way for me to hear this and though there is an i-Pod in the house I don't use it. It's funny, prior to Radiohead doing this "pick-your-price" download everybody seemed to be praising them for it. Now, after the fact, the low quality of the download, and the fact that they announced they would be releasing the record into stores, people seem to be slamming them as if it was all a big con. How can they have been being devious about the download when they told people they could pay whatever they wanted for it? I don't get it.

Anyway, this is sort of interesting, (you might be pretty curious about this too, David) Mr. Greenwood has done the score for a film called "There Will Be Blood" which I think is coming out in December. What's really interesting is the film is a period piece, so I doubt it will be very Radiohead-like, and I read something about his score and how he mixes classical music and all sorts of influences into it. It made me very curious to hear it. I already had the film on my list of stuff that's coming out I want to see and this is just another big plus in my eyes. They say that Daniel Day-Lewis is a lock to win the best actor award too, and get this Ed, they compare the film to classics like Treasure of the Sierra Madre and Citizen Kane...is that cool or what?
