my pleasure.
Yeah, reading Emerson reminds me that we are stupid animals floating, not
swimming but floating and often sinking, in the turds filled with pills and the
exploitation of wrongful men (&, more recently, women) born of a class of
perpetually egocentric & Hellatious dealmakers. Centuries of it.

My son is giving the keynote address (speechy thingy) for the Veterans Day
Ceremony today. He wrote it in a couple hours a few days ago and has been
revising it. It’s a heck of a speech that is in his own words. All I added was
a concluding quote by JFK, but the ebb & flow of his speech is affecting with or
without the quote. Anyway, I was thinking just how excellent a propagandist
he is…heheh…with these words that are meaningful but probably not altogether
true. The audience will dig it, the chicks ’ll swoon, the principal will look on with
the pride of trophies & certificates behind big glass, & afterward B gets to climb
behind his snare and rock with a pretty decent school concert band, so it’s all
good; …but it’d be really good…if it were all true
Nationalism is only real if it’s from the toppermost to the dredge….
If the greatest achievements at the top are compounded lies and deception,
then the whole thing is a sham; even though there are those dying for
truth & honor that they know inside, nobility that comes from love,
yes it is love, and a sense of pride/humility and duty to
one’s people and land.
Bummer, though,
that their honor
is all too often
done in on
the deeds
of bad
men.

[I would be truly honored to live & serve in awe of great leadership, but instead we have to make them up in our imaginations or count on Hollywood to do it for us ~~ sometimes well. This is not to say I believe that people are incapable of self government, often they are. Heck, watch 10 boys play a game of football for two hours in the rain, without a referee, and it’s inspiring to see them go at it without much in the way of arguments. The heart of the game…right out there where the game itself is more important than someone else’s idea of structure or value. Then the same boys on an organized field on Friday night, and some of the bullshit that goes down in the wake of referee snafus, coaching outbursts, and fan rhetoric. Too often, life on this planet has been
lessened in spirit and endeavor by the machinations of the busybodied, the greedy
and the far too terribly authoritative.]
