RK: With all due respect, it was not a "hissy-fit." He was a bright, compassionate man who was emmigrating to Canada for a better life. His mother was waiting for him, and ended up leaving to make funeral arrangements. The RCMP fucked up big time, and I hope there is serious repercussions for the officers involved. Robert Dziekanski was left alone in the secured immigration wing at YVR for 9 hours, refused communication. In frustration, he appears to become agitated and cause a ruckus to be heard.Watch the video again, he raises his arms to surrender when the RCMP arrives. He is defenselss as 4, 200+ lb officers assault him. They were told by a witness he spoke no english, so why ask him questions?1) If the victim has no weapon and is already tired and confused, could they not just swarm and tackle him?
2) Taser usage trainging is clear, after using it, make sure the recepient sits upright to maintain a clear airway. Those pricks jumped on him and crushed his airway.
3) A Taser blast of a few secnds is more than enough to gain control, so why blast him for 30 seconds and then blast him again while subdued?
4) Why was Robert Dziekanski allowed to linger for 9+ hours without anybody obtaining a Polish interpreter? Fuck me, we have the Olympics here in 2 1/2 years, is this how prepared we are for non-English speaking visitors?Stop allowing the police to investigate themselves. Hopefully this is not buried in the fish wrap by the latest Britney parenting issue.So many of my friends and co-workers are incredibly saddened by this. Peace out.
