I know it's early and only one state has been decided, but what if Obama has struck some sort of cord with the American people and is now standing on the edge of something, that as a country, we only get to see every several generations?

The turnout in Iowa has been reported as amazing. Young people turned out for this man and reportedly, more women voted for him than HRC. And this was in white Iowa.

The implications for the future of Obama are so profound and amazing. Recall when Joe Biden was jumped on for saying "Obama" was "clean." Morons tried to turn it into some sort of racial diatribe, when all he was trying to say was Obama lacked any controversy or past that many could hold up as a reason why he couldn't be a viable American leader.

But his future and what it means for America - all America - is astounding. Yes, right now I'm leaning Edwards and still think this race is long from over, and would prefer to see an Edwards/Obama ticket, but I do see the potential for Obama and sort of think a Obama VP would be the strategic thing to do, but what if those like me are wrong and the rest of America is on to something?

Bigger Democratic turn out is expected in NH as well and what if Obama has electrified the young, the non-racist, non-homophobe, progressives and environmentalists in a way unseen in a long, long time? And what if the independents and true compassionate conservatives are looking at this guy and wondering if he is the one that can bring this country back to some sort of American-democratic-people caring middle?

Amazing times, indeed.

But what is really, really scary to me is what seems to happen when the potential, once in a lifetime great leader starts to emerge: they either hugely disappoint us, or some asshole like a Ray or Oswald steps out of the corner and squashes our hope and removes our optimism.
