Finally got around to cashing in that Christmas gift card at Best Buy. On a lark decided to pick up the new Afghan Whigs compilation. I had heard of them (cult favorite, good reviews, etc) but couldn't recall any of their music.I must've listened to the CD about 15 times now. These guys are frickin' awesome. Can't believe I let the 90's slip away without being into this band. Greg Dulli is channeling Jim Morrison and Paul Westerberg. The band's attitude and sound is a high octane mosh of the Replacements, the Stones, and Motown. And Dulli's lyrics about the sex, the drugs, the pain, the hurt, and the love are often unforgettable. Man's got a talent for the turn of a phrase.Check'em out on Youtube and Amazon.
