This is just a list of a few really good artists from The Great White North. I live in a suburb of Vancouver,BC and saw one the best bands "we" have on Fri. but most likely are unknown to the American market.
-Matthew Good Band-Local,4 albums out, alt.rockers, intelligent lyrics, and a friend of mine!
-Sloan-Catchy hooks,great musicians,pop with an alt.vibe
-Tragically Hip-By far our most prolific, and successful band of the last decade. Amazing vocalist and frontman Gordon Downie writes some very esoteric spacey songs on occasion but live this band is brilliant.
-Blue Rodeo-Country/rockers with a legion of fans that rival "The Hip". Dual lead vocalists and a line up that includes ex-Wilco's former steel guitaristand a TIGHT rhythm section.Highly recommnded
-The Be Good Tanyas-I noticed that a few others are listening to their sophomore release "Chinatown" a superb album that showcases these 3 women delivering original songs and gems like "To Live Is To Fly" by Townes Van Zant. effortlessly and with their own wonderful delivery.
-Sam Roberts- Only a 6 song EP from this guy but it sounds great. A summer release is expected for his full-length CDGive some of these artists a listen, and with luck you'll see that The Barenaked Ladies aren't the only export we can offer!!!Regards,
Kyle
