RE:  Hollywood folks

Well, I think they are well-intentioned.  The group you mentioned just isn't very good at separating the hype from the reality.  The reality is that few of the "missiones" started by the Chavez government have been successful and contribute to growth of the society.  But most are more akin to direct handouts that are nothing more than forced income re-distribution.  This has all kinds of unintended negative effects.  Chief among those is that the subsidies don't encourage any change of behavior, i.e. people don't work either hard enough or smart enough.  That sounds like a prejudiced comment, but it's just the reality as I see it.
