It was tremendous. The set list was fantastic--we got Trapped and Murder Inc. back to back, which are two of my favorite Springsteen tunes, and he pulled out Blinded by the Light, Rosie, Bobby Jean, and No Surrender. The 6 tunes from the new album all sounded great, in fact some of them were better live than on the CD. He closed with American Land, which was just as lively, raucus, and uplifting as the version on the Live in Dublin CD/DVD. Having Soozie Tyrell as a semi-permanent member of the band makes a huge difference in his sound, and nowhere more obvious than on that tune.

Patti was not onstage and I have never heard why, and Clarence is apparently suffering from a bad hip and was very immobile. There was also a very touching tribute to Danny to start the show and it was clear that the band were still missing him. Bruce apparently called a few audibles on the setlist during the show, and I was really impressed with how well the lighting and sound crews kept up with him.

The only drawback is that the acoustics in our local giganto-arena are great for basketball and hockey games, but horrible for hearing a band that plays at 115db. I could hear the guitars rattle around in the rafters for 4 or 5 seconds and could barely process the vocals and sax. Had it not been for that the show would have been a life-altering experience. I can't wait to see him again.

We saw Sheryl Crow last weekend. When wasn't trying to be Hannah Montana (I'm not making this up, the first 2 songs she was prancing around the stage rather than behind the mike--I was considering leaving) she was ok, but I thought the band was not as good as when I saw her in 99, and IMO the new material was just not very good live. It was great hearing some of DB's words performed live until she turned Leaving LV into a singalong. She closed out with a pretty kicking version of Higher Ground, which fell somewhere in the middle of Clapton's version and the one by RHCP. It was still a fun night outdoors with my much better half, but the venue is in the middle of a very upscale neighborhood and they have to limit to 95db and shut completely off by 11pm. I guess I still like to shred my eardrums until the early hours...

PS--Reg--why'd you take the clips down? Your last dozen or so posts have all been rendered null and void. You OK?
