Are politicians (ok gm) all so alike? Here the gov has decided that it would be in the best interest of the Everglades to give Big Sugar 1.75 BILLION dollars for 185,000 acres that would keep the everglades moist. That is just the beginning cost. Having been heavily fertilized, one of the reasons the everglades has so many problems, I am sure it will cost another couple hundred mill to get it in condition so that the e ain't more polluted, with all and asundry problems. And that doesn't even include what it will cost to manage the water once it is ready. A bond, is what C suggests. When paid off it will cost (only southern counties) FL taxpayers 30+ BILLION DOLLARS. Of course the Feds, who at one time, since it was brother to brother, were going to pay for a good piece of the restoration, have not met their side of the deal since 2000. ERGH. DO NOT MOVE HERE. WE are up the creek and they have thrown away the paddle.
