The Republican Party of Eisenhower is long long gone, hijacked by a gang of, and I don't mean this metaphorically, criminals, so tied to big drug money, back room arms deals and lobbyists that the only way they could even come close to selling themselves to the American people was by appealing to the worst, lowest instincts of an activist base, trumpeting hate and fear across American air waves, and spinning a cloud of lies so thick they'd choke a 747. Purge the Republican Party of religiocrats, of psywar operatives, of country club fascists, of oilmen and the lobbies, and you may have a chance. Until that day, though, it's a de facto criminal organization, and should be treated as such. I look forward to the day that it is, personally.
