Quayle is busy making money hand over fist and I'd like to say I think you are correct but I'm not sure after all this Palin will continue to be popular in Alaska so she may be cooked there. The thing is when a Democrat takes over the Republicans go on the attack and I'm not sure their big concern is uniting the party. I think the idea will be to make Obama look bad for 4 years and come back strong in 2012. To do this they need attack dogs that "the people" like and Palin is popular in the parts of America that are still "American"...ha! Sure, she has looked bad in her couple of months on the national stage but I get the feeling she's a quick study and loves the cameras. I don't know if she'll run for president in 2012 but I think she'll play a role in the smearfest that is sure to come when Obama is elected. She loves the attention and does not want to give it up now.

I think this is going to be ugly, Dave, and I think it will start right away. I think it's going to be violent too as I believe there are Republican operatives that will assist with starting riots in cities across the country come election night. I mean I want to be wrong but I think there is a very good chance this won't be pretty. There's a bad wind blowing.

I know you are correct that there are Republicans that despise her, all of the Republicans I know can't stand her but I'm on the East Coast, in Massachusetts! I know New York and New England Republicans and sure, they have little use for her. That big red middle of the country is a different story for the most part though and I think the Republican Party will have a hard time disengaging from Roveian philosophy and FOX/talk radio media games. At this point they are running scared and have nowhere to turn except these tactics. I don't see them embracing Ron Paul all of a sudden.

Their games have divided even their own base and now all they have left to play with is fear, confusion, division, and more fear. It's commonplace now for the right to refer to the left as commies, socialists, terrorists, and enemies of America. Going back only a couple decades that would have been thought of as far right insanity...now it is the right and the common sense people on the right are considered the fringe. I'm not sure the right will ever again embrace the intellectuals in their party...because you know they have made "intellectual" a bad word too. They want a Sarah Palin-Joe the Plumber ticket it seems. The worse part of this is this country needs the common sense people on the right worse than ever right now but I'm not sure they can raise their voice loud enough to be heard over all the insane shrieking of the bible thumpers, neo-cons, and outright fascist wack jobs that have taken over.

Jesus, I sound pretty negative, huh? Sorry...
