A village in eastern Turkey sacrificed 44 sheep in honor of Obama's victory:http://www.todayszaman.com/tz-web/detaylar.do?load=detay&link=158213&bolum=101Sacrificing a sheep or two is common in Turkey at the start of any new project. It's done to bring good luck but is also an excuse to have a little celebration as the meat is the centerpiece of a feast. Still, 44 sheep is a huge outlay for a single village, considering that these people don't have a lot of extra money (or sheep) to throw around. It sounds a bit silly but, having been a guest at a couple of these sacrifices, I can assure you that this is a very serious and sincere gesture toward our next President.
