Farthest Shore
We were there in the woods by the waterWe left our packs up against that willow treeWe dove right in, keeping just what we were born withOur Memories, Knowledge and DreamsAs I swam away from our possessionsI imagined that they were gone forever moreAnd for once I was glad that all I treasuredWould still be with me as I reached other shore.So...Let me dive into the water,Leave behind all that I've worked forExcept what I remember and believeand when I stand on the farthest shoreI will have all I needAfter the blaze burned our cabin down to ashesWhere we'd slept warm, now the sky lets in the rainI found the strings, frets and rusted latchesBut I will never hear that old guitar againThese four walls are only in my memoryWhere these stone steps rise to nothing in the airSo one last look and I'm headed for the riverTo wash my hands and try to say this prayerSo...Let me dive into the water,Leave behind all that I've worked forExcept what I remember and believeand when I stand on the farthest shoreI will have all I needWhen my time to live this life is overI'll tip my hat when I think about that swimAnd of all the things that make a life worth livingThat only come to those who dive right inSo...Let me dive into the water,Leave behind all that I've worked forExcept what I remember and believeand when I stand on the farthest shoreI will have all I need
