Strummer, and Brooce, have been at the top of my music-hero mountain for over 30 years. Perhaps it's because I first encountered Joe at age 17 (when music mattered the most to me, though my passion for it hasn't diminished much). He opened my eyes to a much wider world view. The incendiary Clash shows in Boston sealed the deal. Given what we know about Joe's congenital heart condition, it's a wonder that he survived those shows.
