You're right that it is called that . . . but not by people who actually prefer (and believe in) capitalism and/or free markets. (Similarly, Young Earth Creationists have a habit of referring to evolutionary biologists as being "Darwinists," when no evolutionary biologist I ever met would be caught dead wearing that label.)
Ludwig Von Mises is one cat I think this country ought to get to reading. Some legislative body with a thorough understanding of his works might be able to concoct an antidote to all this Keynesian stuff, where money is treated as though value can be derived from nothing. "Need more money? Don't worry, we'll just keep the printing presses running."
It doesn't matter whether you turn to the Left or the Right, both parties are fooled if they believe that magically conjuring close to a trillion dollars (twice!) is any kind of long-term answer for the problems caused by decades of Keynesian economists running the show.
PJ O'Rourke was right: handing over power and money to our government is like handing over whiskey and car keys to teenaged boys.
