[at the risk of appearing overtly obsequious, sometimes some things just need be said…]
You remain, in my mind at least, not merely a definitively unparalleled actor for any generation but a decent (even noble) & purposeful example of both the Yin and the Yang of humanity. Good for you. Good for those paying attention. The spiritual paradox that divides even the most enlightened humans, the divergent notions of dualism/dichotomy and nondualism, is something I wrestle with nearly all the time. We live in a culture immersed in argument. …….I don’t know whether human/earth and/or human/human connectivity is illusion or reality, but somehow I believe that if there is a path to finding out for certain and getting on with doing something meaningful with the knowledge, it’s people like you who are on that path. You, the working director/actor exemplary, IMHO, have been building a bridge across raging wild muddy waters, on purpose or by accident, for the extent of your career. And if you ever complete the bridge and get across, there’s little doubt you’ll figure out a way to act it out …….. or compel an apt colleague to suffer through your directorial vision in some future character that’ll knock us on our collective asses.
Sadly I don’t think I said what I wanted to say here, the words won’t gel, the clarity isn’t taking shape. But I’ve tried too hard to just scrap it now. So I’m just gona post this and leave the gray areas to concessionary poetic license and the curiosity/non-curiosity of my DBIS peers ~~ to shed some light, leave it alone to grow dust and rust, or rip it to pieces in DBIS fashion. Aside from literary ineptitudes tonight (words, Roxanne, words) my primary point was to simply raise a glass in casual salutation for another exceptional work of art. I think the best cat won. Please direct another gemstone very soon; or at least direct an epic David Baerwald rock opera to knock all our 21st Century dicks in the dirt. (Even in the midst of would-be hopeful notions of true leadership) God knows we need it.
