The same Spanish judge who started a case against Gonzales and five othe Bush underlings (the "Bush Six") has opened a new investigation. The new case is based on recently declassified U.S. documents. A CNN news piece is at:http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/europe/04/29/spain.court.guantanamo/There was a Fresh Air interview aired today with a British international lawyer who is behind much of this. You might be able to catch it, depending on your local NPR station schedule, or it will be available on the Fresh Air online archive late this afternoon.http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=13
The original Bush Six case, by the way, is still alive. It has been damaged by the Spanish prosecutor's recommendation that the case not be pursued but this does not kill the case. In a similar case against Pinocet, the prosecutor also recommended dropping the case but it went ahead anyway.Go Spain! Viva Espana!
