Should she run in the Republican primary, in the long run, she can only help the Democrats. She will cause a rift between the nutty fundamentalists (I know, I'm being redundant) and the somewhat sensible, moderate Republicans. Were she to emerge from the primaries as the Republican candidate (and that's a hell of a long shot), I cannot fathom her appealing to the independents. She can't even gain traction with the affluent Republican elites. I see her simply further cultivating her creepy cult of personality, sucking up bucks on the wacky lecture circuit, and ultimately fading away (after trying and failing with a cable talk show). Her ascendancy is really a comment on her followers: angry, energized, but uninformed, and dangerously deluded when it comes to religion. Go Sarah Go!Peter T.
