The loss of this site/board for me,would be a huge personal loss as well. As one of the first handful of users (+ or -) numerous, lengthy hospital stays. The people on this site provided comfort, compassion (sha-la-la),and in many cases friendships which I feel like they are life long friends. We have never met,we send each other Cd's,b-day greetings,Christmas cards and most importantly the telephone calls that feel as natural as calling up a good friend from school,or from work, not just to place a voice to a name, but to talk openly and honestly as friends do.
This board has provided me with an outlet to express myself in words, that I would never tell anyone else the absolute truth about my emotions which can be very convoluted as trying to describe my feelings about the spinal cord injury that took away every passion, skill, physical and mental capabilities I had at the age of 24 when the life I knew disappeared in a fraction of a second.Finding this board and the friends I met here allowed me to obtain enough of the shattered self esteem I have lost the opportunity to share in threads, give simple reviews of what music I have been listening to,or which artists I have recently perform in concert. That may sound like no big deal to some people, but it provides a safe place to express thoughts and feelings in these typed words that otherwise would have remain trapped somewhere in myself.I can't really grasp the loss of this board at this moment. If David chooses no longer be actively anticipating among the rest of us that is solely his prerogative and we should be immensely grateful for how much access to him personally, and the information on upcoming projects. The "A Fine Mess" production and the open invitation to those in So.Cal. or others willing to get there to help with the assembly of the case and liner notes were like a dream. Can anyone suggest another of their favorite artists placing an open call to come down to the studio and help with the limited edition, autographed, and numbered albums? Or during the tour for the project, came to your table and had a drink with you and indulged a barrage of questions about "what's next", or "when are you and Ricketts getting back together?", or in my case sat patiently listening and engaging in conversation until the gear was in the van and the house lights were up.I certainly will miss David's contributions, but losing the entire site seems unimaginable. It does have a much more vitriolic, political feel to it in recent years. I miss the board that used music as it's major function. People reviewing and suggesting what they've been listening to. Announcing a concert about to be attended and the subsequent review of the gig.My political acumen is not as well honed as a large number of the rest of you, that plus being Canadian I'm just happy that "W" and evil incarnate itself Cheney are gone. Can we lighten things up by another Burn Unit? Those are a much welcome change every couple of years, well for me they are.Signed,Sealed,Delivered,I'm Yours,
Kyle
