Watched the first part yesterday, and the thing that struck me was the difference between AGE and MAINTENANCE of the performers, which was most evident in the CSN set. The only one of the three that has Maintained themselvs was Nash. Stills and Crosby looked and acted like they had been mainlining LARD! They were slow and low (They are never going to get those high harmonies back) but at least they could have given more time to rehearsing the harmonies. The Stevie Wonder set was a vast improvement, and from here you could tell who had an active, working band behind them. Which goes back to EEE's point. From here on out, the 'guests' didn't do themselvs any favors. Whether it was due to lack of commitment or lack of rehearsal (Which these events are famous for) I'll leave up to the individual viewer. A couple random observations -
What does Sting have to do with Motown?Metallica's set was great. Ozzie is a caraciture - I'm surprised people aren't calling for him to be put down like a dog. Lou didn't do himself any favors, but it was nice to hear that multi-guitar attack from the Rock&Roll Animal era again. Ray Davies just didn't want to be there.Out of all the Guest performers, who'da thunk it would be FERGIE who would be the standout??? I'm sure that it's going to get a rise out of Tina when she see's it.
