Greetings:

My wife and I just got back from the PETER GABRIEL show in Toronto on july 4th at the MOLSON AMPHITHEATRE. The tour is winding down --- there are only a handful of dates left. We also decided that we are buying the entire tour box set of the OFFICAL BOOTLEGS available through PG's website.

This actually was the first time in quite a number of years, where I saw shows at the beginning and end of a tour. This PG show was also different in that it was not in the round --- it was on a proscenium stage. There were a couple of things that he had to remove from the show because of this.

Peter did make a speech about how angry he was with the "world's remaining superpower" --- which got a lot of applause and much verbal agreement from the people who sat nearby.

The show opened with Uzbekistan vocalist Sevara Nazarkhan. She was wonderful!! During the PG set, she did a mind- blowing version of IN YOUR EYES --- it was beautiful. I am looking forward to buying her CD.

We got there super early --- and even got to see the three song soundcheck.

A very enjoyable time was had by all involved!

Of the above list --- it was good to see SHOCK THE MONKEY finally out of the setlist --- a good song but overplayed. It was good to see JEUX SANS FRONTIERES back in the setlist, after a many year absence. And BIKO --- the entire crowd was literally singing the final refrain all the way back to the parking lot --- which made for a really poignant moment of spontaneous peaceful solidarity --- as well as a prayerful tribute to the memory of Mr. Biko --- a man who gave his life for his beliefs.

THAT IS A TRUE HERO --- not some moron on a movie screen!

KDB RATING: FIVE GRASSY KNOLLS (out of five!)

NEXT KDB CONCERT REVIEW --- August 14, 2003 --- STEELY DAN Molson Amphitheatre, Toronto
