Funny you should bring those games up Andrea - they were the two I thought of after I'd posted. Mum and Dad used to do an occasional cruise from Fremantle to Singapore. On one of those trips, the stewards taught Mum the traditional Chinese way of playing Mah-jong. She bought a set and we played over the summer holidays at our beach-house. I loved it. We played on a glass topped table and the clink of the tiles made a special sound. Never did get the hang of the gambling aspect though.
