Just starting the Pregnant Widow myself. So far so good. Michiko gave it a round thrashing in the NY
Times, making me want to read it more. She hated Yellow Dog too. She wants people to be the writer
she thinks they should be instead of who they are. She liked his previous novel--also good--but in
the style of her dreams.Just read Point Omega by Brother Don Delillo. Very nice. I'm a bit of a junky for him, Amis, and 50
other writers.Such as --just now re-reading the sequel to Padgett Powell's Edisto, Edisto Revisted. Love that guy. Also have a few novels by Lydia Millet that I'm liking. Like so many, I'm always reading 10 books at the same time. It's no wonder I have a hard time
functioning.
