The impression I get is that the BP engineers know what they are doing but are up against a problem
they cannot solve. More up front planning and more redundant safety systems would have been the
solution. Some have speculated in the papers here (others in the industry) that BP cut some corners in
design of the well-head. I'm not sure that's forgivable. Like Union Carbide with Bhopal, this might yet
be the death of BP, or at least the sale of them.
