I would reduce this question as follows:

Why violence?

It really does not matter in relation to what we ask the question so just those two words are what count.

My answer would be:

Because nothing else makes us feel so alive and so right with the world.

Sometimes some smartass will throw out that sex makes us feel just as alive but the truth is sex is a form of violence...it's a violent act...the two are the same we just change what we call it based on who we are doing it to.

I could get pretty deep with this but I'll leave it at that unless somebody has the desire to continue down this strange path...
