Have you ever read any of the studies, dating back to the late 70's (in my recollection), which point out that Sesame Street wasn't a positive contributor to educational development.

There's data that outweighs emotional appeal. Besides why should the taxpayers pay for Sesame Street. And! why aren't the public coffers receiving the profits from the merchandising.

Put otherwise, Big Bird is capable of paying his own way.
