It's a hell of a conundrum for the GOP. They made a pact with the devil (so to speak) when they
eagerly let the social conservative/religious right types set-up shop. Now how do they go for the
"big tent" without turning off this most base, base? How can a moderate make it through the
primary? Jon Huntsman didn't have a chance in the primaries but would have made a very solid
general election candidate. The Christianists will never accept abortion or gay rights. It's their "line
in the sand". Like I said, what a conundrum. And as the country gets browner, and the angry old
white guys continue to die off, they risk utter irrelevance. And I'm not sure that's good for the
