In My Room - 2012 Top Ten
#10
Efterklang - PiramidaGathering found sound recordings to create a basis or springboard for songs collected on the
release… Interesting concept and beautifully, exquisitely executed.
#9
First Aid Kit - The Lion's RoarTwo sitters who maybe young in age, but very mature in delivery of harmonies. Lovely sounds and a
duo to watch out for!
#8
Father John Misty - Fear FunJ. Tillman breaks ranks from Fleet Foxes and records the album of his career.
#7
Neil Halstead - Palindrome HunchesVery easily someone could argue that this isn't Neil's brightest hour, but this CD just spoke to me
like no other as the dog days of Summer where winding down…
#6
Andrew Bird - Break It Yourself LP/Hands Of Glory EPNot sure if this would have made the Top Ten if it was the LP alone, But Andrew nails it on the
second release this year and I'm hoping that he heads into more of a Live Folk Act in the Future.
He's done nearly everything else to this point?
#5
Patrick Watson - Adventures In Your Own BackyardPatrick has been making inspiring music for years now. One of Canada's greatest imports and sadly,
largely ignored.
#4
Paul Buchanan - Mid AirPaul returns with a late nite recording that truly breaks your heart…A crooner for the 22nd Century.
Former front man of the The Blue Nile, if you never heard of that band then you have been missing a
very special player in the world of Popular Music.
#3
Allo Darlin - EuropePower Indie Pop at it's finest and the torch has been passed from the late, The Go-Betweens. This is
pure sunshine and I just adore Elizabeth!
#2
Spiro - KaleidophonicaThird release from this Modern UK Folk act…the energy is amazing from the first note on, they
never let up!
#1
Sam Lee - Ground Of It's OwnSam takes traditional Folk tunes and lost songs into the 22nd Century. No Modern UK Folk artist has
accomplished this as powerfully as Sam. He's raised the bar on Tradition and I can't wait to hear
what comes in it's aftermath.
