"They"? Isn't the government, "We the People?"

Last time I checked 'they' were building and maintaining an interstate highway system, public schools, an Army and a Navy, public libraries, maintaining a legal system to keep criminals off your lawn, and a Public Health agency just to name a few things ...

If you drove to work this week, have an education, didn't die of measles in infancy, and aren't sleeping in flammable pajamas ... you can thank ... "them".

PS. I believe it was 'private incentive' that produced the flammable pajamas ...
