If you've followed along to any of the discussion that led me to tracking this release down (these tracks came from the Wondercap vinyl only release of LA punk) - the Spastics were given the label of worst band ever. Here's the quote from David a few years back -

For the record, DYI!, the great book about the LA punk scene, written by the estimable, if wholly corrupt Brendan Mullen, quite rightly called us the worst band to ever take any stage anywhere at any point in history, Or something along those lines. (That was when we called ourselves the Spastics.) We were genuinely terrible. Every show with that band was a form of divine agony. Out of shame, I took to singing, not from the stage, but from dark tables, booths, wherever I could hide the best. The band lasted much too long, but we were pals since elementary school, some of us, and it was hard to just let it go.

But to be honest - I don't think these tracks sound half bad. In context of the time and style - I would actually say they sound pretty good. The guitar is driving and David's bass on Baby You String Me Up is solid. I can't imagine this was the worst band in the late 70s punk scene.
