Sometimes I need a good slap to the head (metaphorically only, thank you) in order to awaken me from the myopic stupor that too often I find myself in. This song provides the requisite jolt to the system, the catharsis that I desperately require.

It'll probably turn off most of you, but hey, maybe not. Get in touch with your angst-ridden former teenage self, and give it a try.

Here's the song's background as provided by a Youtube reviewer:

okay, so basically, smith street were playing a gig in Byron bay at the start of 2013, and some drunk asshole showed up and was just trying to cause trouble, starting fights, assaulting people, being an all-round asshole. They told him multiple times to settle down and stop being so violent, eventually after this happened a couple of times, the support act's guitarist from 'the bennies' (amazing band, check them out!) named jules, also affectionately called king jules tried to stop him, the asshole retaliated and broke a bottle of whiskey over jules' head and then stabbed him in the arm with the bottle. this of course caused a whole lot of commotion, but while all this was happening, king jules screamed to the asshole 'don't fuck with our dreams'. Jules fully recovered, and still plays in the bennies. this was a huge time for the smith street band, because they didn't want to be in a band if their friends were getting hurt, so they were thinking about breaking up, they decided against it, but they wrote this song about the incident. This songs about being in the band and living on the road and living out their dreams.

So, here's The Smith Street Band doing Don't Fuck With Our Dreams. Come November, I'll be seeing these Aussies in a small, shitty club in Boston. I love small, shitty clubs. The best rock and roll is often played in them. Can't wait to lose myself in their dreams.
