Just have to add my 2 cents: Rob Hirst is one of the greatest rock drummers alive and really, in my own humble opinion, the heart and soul of Midnight Oil.
There's a Midnight Oil DVD available out there somewhere on the net. Any of you committed enough to spend a few bucks to pick it up will have a couple of hours of documentary proof of his ability. It's a great history of one of the great bands.
Hirst is also a pretty good songwriter and singer. Check out his band Ghostwriters.
