I used to be a big Don Henley fan, but he has dimmed for me. In some ways, I see him as the epitome of what is bad in music and American life. That he is artificial, vapid and arrogant and as superficial as his obvious botox. For example, in comments at the start when he was introducing someone, I think it was Jamey Johnson, he alluded to him as being one of "authentic" voices in country music. Pretty arrogant thing to say. Like he is its savior. This was odd to hear since it seems that Henley has went the route of Hootie, Sheryl Crow and others in that to prop themselves up, they have went to country music (my own more cynical view is that pop artists' go to country because in some sort of background arrogance). Also, I have a huge problem with artists that do what the Eagles have done - by that I mean, have they not earned enough where they can put on a show that a regular person could afford to go see? To ask hundreds and hundreds of dollars from fans is ridiculous. Then of course there is his early lifestyle and whining about "dirty laundry" while seeming to ignore his own past Roman Polanski habits. Ugh...I'm getting old where to me, character does matter....
