I think it all goes back to the crass commercialization of your media conglomerates. Pretty much all your media is driven by and dependent on add revenue, which means that they cater to the lowest common denominator and they break for adds ALL THE TIME...All the largest TV and radiostations in northern Europe is sponsored by a licence you pay yearly if you own a TV/radio. Some also have adds, but it is illegal to break into a running program to show an add.
