Icon Companion Piece - DB's A Prisoner's Dream & E. Bunker's No Beast So Fierce

One of my favorite BD songs is that of A Prisoner's Dream.

When I hear that song, I interpret it to be a narrative describing the most idealistic belief in mankind's ability to be redeemable and humane and, as the title suggests, where even a prisoner can dream.

Of course, this is not true that all people are able to reject deviance and become artistic wonders, but we can still hope and wish so.

Now, recall, DB once commented that this song is based on Edward Bunker and his life. I mention it because while I have read Edward Bunker's autobiography, I have just picked up his novel No Beast So Fierce and, boy, let me put this out there....DB's song is the perfect companion to this novel and the main character in the novel.

For those that don't know of Edward Bunker, he started out in life a thief and robber and convict, but found the written word and became a well- respected writer and found his way into movies and television.

For those that don't know, the novel was made into a film with Dustin Hoffman called Straight Time.

(Oddly, last night while flipping through the television channels, I came across a shown on CNN and one guest was Danny Trejo and Trejo ended up talking about Edward Bunker - very interesting piece).
