Any fellow Toni Childs fans on this forum? (There's a tangential David
Baerwald connection: Toni sang backing vocals on David & David's
"Boomtown" and David Ricketts co-wrote songs on three of her albums.) I always thought of her as America's answer to Kate Bush. (Never heard
her? Check out this song, "I Just Want Affection," as a showcase of
Toni's distinctive and emotional voice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=k2hiMn2IMyY)Toni released three fantastic art-rock records, culminating in 1994's The
Woman's Boat, which featured a duet with Peter Gabriel and guitars by
Robert Fripp and her longtime cohort David Rhodes. Toni is running an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign to mount a worldwide
tour (including USA, Canada, Europe) that will feature a stunning and
truly innovative stage show - see preview video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkCE-D_P6ScThe rewards on her IndieGoGo campaign will be of interest to fans. For
starters, she is going to release The Vault, an album of unreleased
songs, including some that were intended for late '90s album "Bare,"
which was never completed. Also available via IndieGoGo as CDs or downloads are Toni's two most
recent, self-released albums, "Citizens of the Planet" and "It's All a
Beautiful Noise." They're both stunning records - I think "Citizens of
the Planet" is probably her best-ever album. Here's a music video from
it, "What Do I Do About You": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZW1T1rJmkHMThere's also a new, 2CD "Greatest Hits," which features songs from all
her albums.http://tonichilds.com/
