I don't think they no longer exist but they have been greatly marginalized.
Basically, in our last election we had a choice between the madman Trump
who is not really a Republican, just a maniac with no core beliefs at all,
and a sort of ordinary Republican in Hillary Clinton. The Clintonistas have
jerked the Democrats way over to the right, with the prevailing theory
being "let's be in the middle and appeal to both sides" and so until those
clowns are moved out of the way...well...we have this choice between "wacky
Republicans" and "Clinton Republicans." So, to that extent there is only one party. The Republicans do have a path
to victory in their "red" states and as we saw in 2016 have a path to
winning a national election if the Democrats act like morons. So, if you run a Hillary Clinton against a madman like Trump...you will
lose every time. Let's see what happens in the midterms before we buy plane
tickets.
