Basically, there is a school of thought that Democrats just will not
impeach...particularly Democrats like Pelosi. They will use a Republican
held Senate as the EXCUSE not to impeach. And there is a school of
thought that believes allowing Trump to complete his term and continue to
be an utter disgrace and disaster is better for the Democrats and the
2020 elections. In other words just keep allowing Trump to inflict more and more damage
on Republicans. Personally, I believe the Republicans in the Senate just saw Trump as a
useful idiot who now that the Democrats have taken the House is no longer
particularly useful. Trump was useful for getting an insane and destructive tax bill passed
that funnels money to their wealthy donors and in nominating asshole
judges to the Supreme Court that will do nothing about Citizens United if
it comes before them and back Republicans on the gerrymandering they want
to do. They got those things through and now Trump serves little purpose for the
next two years while there is a Democratic controlled House. I mean look at this horrific nonsense with Saudi Arabia, the Republican
Senate is not backing Trump on "Standing with Saudi Arabia" and allowing
them to kill a Washington Post journalist with no repercussions. They know full well that's Trump putting his interests before the country
and the world and they want no part of that. So, when Trump is going to continue to do and say idiotic and disgusting
things and stand with brutal dictators why would the Republicans in the
Senate not want to be rid of him? It's one thing to do a smash and cash grab tax bill...it's entirely
different thing to stand with guys like Putin and Saudi Prince Bonesaw
over your own country and people.Plus Trump literally grows more and more incoherent by the day. I mean
have you heard the kind of babble he has been spewing lately?I understand why the Republicans backed him for the first two years but
wow, I don't see much reason to back him for these next two. Trump does more damage to them daily with his own words and actions than
ANY Democrat could do. I can kind of understand why Pelosi wants to just
leave him in place but I think we need to make an example of him as
rapidly as possible. Start the impeachment process when Mueller wraps up
and get it on the table. Let the Republican Senators have to go on record
where they stand with it.
