So, the difference between Trump and Pence is Pence is a true believer.
Trump has no beliefs, no morals, no values, no ethics, no empathy,
and no
conscience. So, Pence was meant to balance that off during the campaign.
Where Trump is the polar opposite of Christian, Pence is a raving
Christian nut on the level of Fred Phelps.
It's pretty well known that Pence and his family are completely
disgusted
by Donald Trump. Trump we know only acts in his own interests, he does
not give fuck all about the country or the world. So, pretty easy to
predict what he will do. He will always take the path that benefits him
personally.
Pence is an entirely different animal. We would probably be somewhat
better off with Pence in terms of our relationship with the world,
domestic policy though...probably not.
I certainly don't want to see President Pence but President Trump is
as
dangerous a situation as we have ever had and whereas Trump has no
loyalty at all to this country Pence probably at least is loyal to the
United States.
As far as impeachment goes, well, nothing will happen at all until
Mueller has wrapped up. The Democrats will be seated in the House at that
point but without Mueller's report they will not act. They have said this
repeatedly and I believe them.
Now, with Pelosi as speaker the story seems to be impeachment will
only
take place if the Republicans in the Senate tell her they want to
impeach. If Senate Republicans do not tell Pelosi that, well, supposedly
no impeachment.
That said, the rumor is Senate Republicans are discussing impeachment
options so there are going to be serious bipartisan talks about doing it.
I don't know if it will happen or not. I have felt through most of
this
debacle that the most likely thing is Trump actually resigning.
Trump resigning would be the preferred option of all sides I think.
Of
course Trump has to be convinced of this but I have always felt that the
thing that would convince him is his children facing jail time...and it
is really looking like they have felony charges coming against Don Jr.
and that both Eric and Ivanka also are in jeopardy of criminal charges as
well.
If it starts to look like impeachment could happen my guess is there
will
be several Republicans sent to talk to Trump to convince him to resign.
I would like to see impeachment because it will, basically as Peter
is
suggesting, spill the entire bloody mess out in front of the country and
the world. This way people would see what happened and wow, will that be
ugly. Not sure how many politicians actually have the stomach for that
though...and I am not just talking about Republicans.
