In the new issue of The Atlantic, there is a look back at the Clinton impeachment. Many of those involved were re-interviewed. One of the most interesting things about the article is the contrast of the Starr investigations and what is happening now. When the two are compared, it is clear which one is best described as a "witch hunt." Current reporters even admit that both Starr and Kavanaugh were leakers to the press back then.. On a surprising twist (and one the media did not report on in much depth during the hearings) was the involvement of Kavanaugh. He was a pious Starr toadie. As far as a Trump impeachment, I fall to the belief that the Dems would be strategically foolish for doing so. Trump is the disastrous gift that keeps on destroying and just loves to issue out tiny cuts in the thousands. I also think one aspect that is not being watched a lot is that establishment Republicans are the biggest winners across the aisle. I think they see all this and think there is a possibility the most reactive and partisan Republicans will pay the largest price for Trumpian loyalty.
