So, the wall is a device designed to create an argument that has no
solution.
It is not a real tangible thing that is meant to be built. So, the
"wall"
itself is just imaginary, not something that will or even can happen.
It is meant to create an immigration argument that gives people a
"with
us" or "against us" choice.
It proposes the false proposition that if you are "for the wall" you
are
"strong on immigration" if you are "against the wall" you are for "open
borders" and that is meant to give people who do not at all have a grasp
of the situation a simple choice that the people that came up with this
hope will seem totally obvious to them.
Ann Coulter openly explained it in her claims about having regular
secret
talks with Trump. She said she told him as long as he keeps talking about
immigration and the "wall" he will keep his base. She fully understands
the device and how it works. He never has to build the wall, he just
needs to keep repeating he will build the wall.
They use this device over and over and it always works with their
base.
They use it in the gun control debate. They used it to sell the "war on
terror" and they used it in the abortion debate.
Because the "wall" can't be accomplished they can continue to claim
anybody that won't agree to the "wall" is "against them" in perpetuity.
Hence, a never ending and completely idiotic debate.
They have done this with the gun debate. They claim the solution to
our
gun problem is more guns and if you are against this solution then you
are going to take guns away.
It's a simple "with us" or "against us" proposition.
Abortion? If you are not for ending all abortion, you are for killing
babies. With us or against us.
War on terror? With us or against us.
This is how you create that tribal mentality.
And it keeps fucking working.
It's funny, Trump has been out trying to formulate the "medieval"
defense
and get that to stick in people's heads. The reason he is doing this is
because it was explained to Trump that a wall is not a good solution at
the border and is not wanted by the people that have studied the issue.
He's been directly told a wall would just be a giant waste of money.
What
they want along the border is more technology and that this would be the
most helpful thing.
The interesting thing here is that Trump seemed to grasp this but he
has
the Coulter problem. If you actually solve the border security issues
with technology (which his base does not understand and there is nothing
to actually look at like a big wall) then you kill off the ability to use
the endless with us or against us nonsense that gets him votes.
So, Trump can't or won't back away from the building a wall lie.
Trump only sees two solutions to this. He knows a wall won't ever be
completed while he is president so, if he can just build a little piece
of wall he can claim he started the wall but all the horrible people
killed his wall once he left office.
Or he can just try to stall until he is out of office with a "blame
the
Democrats for no wall" deal which allows the debate to continue forever
and pleases Coulter.
After all if there is still no wall headed into 2020 a Republican
candidate can then start spewing the "I'm going to build that wall!"
nonsense again.
So, the real win is to never build the wall but just keep claiming
you
want to.
