KDB -

i understand completely [as i myself have recently had to call it quits for some of the same reasons with an email thread with a gaggle of starry&stripey-eyed fundamentalist hardliners].

still, i call this a sizable loss for the DBIS, as it appears to me that we've lost perhaps our most colorful character and certainly our feistiest provocateur. personally, Kent, i've always enjoyed your posts, the number of which never really bothered me, nor their intensity...although you are one intense motherfucker! go find some roses and sniff deeply, dammit!  :)     but, shit, besides all that, you're a high-quality/quantity-of-intellect&emotion music, film and literature seeker, a rare and wonderful thing in this day and age.

they say a fanatic is one who can change neither his mind nor the subject...i understand those who may have tired of it, but i also understand that this society has become badly divided in the last two years, with its splintering pace quickening and its civility rapidly declining along with it. i too fear that only violent chaos can eventually follow, so i see why you get so dogmatic. still, people are verrrrrrry invested in the upright position of their applecarts, so gentler persuasion and ample factual documentation will go farther than lecturing. maybe less capital letters and more italics, too, i dunno. just a thought. and remember that the message and the mission are bigger than KDB, and keep carrying on the work of this modern world's Davids (as in db and vs. Goliath ) and BILL HICKS, who was entirely correct: most people in this country have absolutely no interest in or courage to admit much less accurately perceive the numerous ways 'their' government -  Republican AND Democrat, nearly every last one of them pathologically power-obsessed, pineal gland phobic, and pantsless and bent over some satanically greedy multinational CEO's desk - is, every single day, selling us out, fucking us over and tightening the screws of total control while they use fear, violence, and on-message slogans to massmarket the illusion of freedom  -   the freedom to do as they allow and tell us to. i suppose if one is sitting on one's own sizable chunk of the "American Dream" then who cares, but just because another may appear paranoid and conspiracy-obsessed doesn't mean it's not happening.

peace and prayers to you, Kent. you did keep it fun, and then some, so thanks for all the stimulation and spice. how fitting that your last post on the DBIS was number 451 - the degrees farenheit at which paper books ignite. go forth, and pop wheelies and minds.

all the best,

~srb~
