Hi all,So generally speaking it seems that DB's music isn't available on any streaming services.
People have posted some songs to YouTube, which I think is generally not a preferable way
to listen to music, but otherwise I haven't found much anywhere on the "big ones", at least
(Spotify, Apple Music, Google Music, etc.) — with the exception of, naturally, Boomtown. Also, a good number of the CDs aren't available through, at least, Amazon.Does anyone know why? Is this an intentional state of affairs? I know there are a lot of bad
feelings out there about how streaming services handle revenue. But when it comes to a
choice between people not being able to hear material at all, or being able to hear it in an
arrangement that is arguably unfair to just about everyone but the platform, isn't the
second one still preferable?Maybe this is a matter of labels and ownership and all kinds of legal crap? Or could it just
be that DB hasn't gotten around to finding a way to get his stuff out through these
channels?Personally, I don't live in a place where I'm likely to find CDs of his music. I could order
what's available on Amazon (though I'm not going to shell out 91 EUR for "Bedtime
Stories", sorry...), but that still leaves a lot of gaps.Is there a way to help out here? I am certainly not a part of the "recording industry", and
wouldn't call myself an expert on any of these matters, but I have put together a few
websites (for my stuff), and I've used well-known services to get material out onto all the
streaming platforms. Is it possible that DB just needs a little nudge, or an offer of
assistance, or something like that? It's really a shame that it's so difficult to even hear his
material. I would gladly offer some assistance myself, if that's what's needed.More generally speaking, I'm still looking for a comprehensive list of works that includes
songwriting credits, film & TV work, etc. Is IMDB the only place that lists work besides
albums? Even the Wikipedia page doesn't mention the recent work with Madeleine
Peyroux, and I'm wondering how much more of his fingerprints are out there that just aren't
cataloged all in one place.Best,
Noel
