Point of this post is to point you to a newly released tribute disc for the departed John Wicks of The Records.
I started listening to The Records in the mid to late 80s - picked up a cool looking cassette from the hometown discount store. Here's a favorite track of mine from their 2nd album from 1980 called Crashes -
Sometime in late 2000s I interacted by email with one of the band's co-founders - John Wicks. He was super nice and we exchanged a couple of emails. He sent me a few discs with some demo music. Very cool.
John passed about 1 year ago while working on a new album. The album's tracks were picked up by some of John's collaborators (including Peter Case and Al Stewart). The album is called For The Record - A Tribute To John Wicks. It can be ordered here.
